Ducky Planters

Hello dear readers,

I made some experiments with a new to me, made in China, air drying clay.  My first attempts were
a disaster.  The clay was a nice terracotta color but when it dried it became kind of faded rose color.  I gave up but later on I tried again and here are the results.

Next I plan to try making spooky vessels for this same clay.  Hope something will come out.

While I was making flowers to fill up the duck pots, I remembered that I had some cold porcelain
clay which I made for another project and decided it was time to try out Susy's Aloe Vera tutorial.
I planted them in two upside-down painted terracotta metal Christmas bells.

As usual, July and August are the hottest days here and this year is no exception.  The good thing is that we have the sea very close.  Since we have no plans to go away on a holiday because of my
husband's health condition, the sea is our escape. Now I have more seashells in my stock. (Stuff to create minis from.)

I wish you all, my dear readers, a wonderful weekend and blessings.

  1. Hi Drora! I LOVE your little ducky planters! And the Aloe plants look great! I never would think to paint Christmas bells to make a planter! What a great idea! I hope you have many wonderful days by the sea and find plenty of tiny shells for minis!

  2. Your ducky planters turned out simply awesome - what a great idea to try something like this with this new clay you've had in your stash... A fantastic result and they look good with all the different plants you've placed in them. Like Betsy already said I also admire your "miniature eye" for using a Christmas bell for a planter... and your aloe turned out wonderful. And not to forget - tiny seashells for future miniature projects sound very good to me! ;O) Have a great and hopefully not too hot summer!
