Sarit's work

Hello dear readers,

This is how our apartment 7-story building looks today.  The exterior is being renovated.  It will probably take a long time to finish and it's a real pain in the neck to live with.  You will understand that these are no conditions for working on miniatures.  Most of the days I stay out. Can't stand the noise.  The nights are better.  We can open the windows to let some fresh air in.  The only "good" thing is that my husband is still recuperating at the clinic and is saved from the going on chaos.

Some of you may remember the workshop I hosted a year ago in which  Sarit taught us how to work with polystyrene.  I have yet to finish my project. Instead, with Sarit's permission, I'll show you her stunning antique shop.  The structure is all polystyrene.

You can see more photos in Sarit's  a/m link.

Notice the amazing floor.

Sarit is a most talented miniaturist, an artist, a generous friend and a great teacher.
I'm urging her to open a blog.  It can be in Hebrew.  Almost everyone has translation facilities.

One of the reasons I did not get to work on my own project is that I have no  room to display a large  piece and prefer to work on smaller scales.  But I promised myself to finish what I started.
A flower shop is what I have in mind. (Ojala)

I wish you all a lovely Sunday with blessings.

  2. Hi Drora! Yes, the maintenance at houses is often very anoying, but unfortunately it has to be done. I can imagine that you have suffering alot from the noise. I'm glad to read that your husband doesn't have to suffer with it, I hope he is recovering well..?
It will be a nice if Sarit can open a blog, her work is wonderful, just as her ideas are. They would be so nice to follow on a blog. Unfortunately lots of great blogs have been abondoned the past couple of years, so it would be nice she opens one. Your flower shop looks promising so far, I hope you can finish it when the work at your flat is over. Wishing you a peaceful and good rest for the weekend!
    Warm hugs, Ilona

  3. Good recovery to your husband!
Your antique shop is very nice, nice work

  4. Ughhh... construction is always awful to live with. Endless dust and noise. I hope it's done soon and your home becomes more peaceful.

Love the shop! That roof is just amazing, I'm always impressed with the details artists manage to add.

  5. I hope you keep working on your flower shop, Drora! It will end up filled with so many lovely things! The antique shop Sarit made is gorgeous! It is hard to believe it is all made from polystyrene!!!

  6. I can only imagine how beautiful your flower shop will be! I am so looking forward to seeing your progress with it, however long it takes!
Sarit's shop is wonderfully filled with so many interesting things to look at. What a great material to use as an alternative to wood. Must be much easier to get creative with. Thank you for sharing!
I wish you much luck and patience with the building renovations!

  9. Hello Drora,
I do hope construction on your building will be done sooner then expected. It really is a wonderful shop and I look forward to seeing yours. I hope your husband is doing much better.
    Big hug

  11. Sarit is a very talented miiaturist. Her shop is amazing. Your flower shop looks wonderful and I'm curious to see the progress.

  12. I really pity you for having to cope with this "Christo installation" and all the noise you have to bear now... renovations are always annoying. But here's a little comfort: One wonderful, fabulous, beautiful day the workers will disappear!!! Yes, believe me, they will! Okay, I admit it, this was only micro tiny comfort... but keep your head up! Sarit's work is wonderful, it would be great if she would start a blog. The facades, the stonework, the floor... and the well chosen decorations... I really like this rolled up carpet standing next to the entrance. I hope you will be able to work on your flower shop project soon, the "carcass" looks already so promising. And what could be better than a shop filled with the beautiful flowers that you create... and hopefully a few typical Drora-shell-pieces involved. My best wishes for your husband's health and again loads of strength to you and your family.

  13. Hi Drora! I know how annoying that can be. We just replaced our roof. But in the end you will be living in a beautifully renovated building. The antique shop is beautiful. I have no doubt you will make yours into an equally stunning place. All the best to your husband. Have a great weekend!

  14. I love the blog post, and you helped me make such a fun card with it!

  15. Hi Drora! I wish your house consductrion goes fast and well. I know what talking about! Next week there will be some renovation also in our house.
    -Sarits work is beautiful.
    Hugs, piikko

  16. I stumbled upon this blog while searching for the perfect DIY project for my new entertainment setup, and I must say, I'm truly impressed. The step-by-step instructions and detailed images make the whole process seem so achievable, even for a novice like me.

  17. I'm eagerly looking forward to starting this DIY project. Not only will I have a TV stand built with my own hands, but I'll also have a sense of accomplishment that only comes from creating something from scratch.

Once again, thank you for sharing this wonderful guide, and thank you for providing the discount store. I'll make sure to spread the word about your blog among my friends who share the same DIY spirit.
