Autumn 2022 -Hebre New Year 5783

Hello dear friends,

We here in Israel have been celebrating our Hebrew New Year 5783.  It's a religious 2-day holiday that always falls in autumn.

I made the little autumn scene for my family and local friends.

All the outdoor pieces of furniture, including the wooden crate, were created and put together by me. The pumpkin pie and leave-cookies are gifts from a fellow miniaturist who sadly no longer keeps her blog.  The pumpkins too are gifts from blog friends. The flower vase is bought and filled with sunflowers quickly made by me for this scene.

Kitty's home has not been entirely neglected.  All the furniture pieces are completed waiting only to be decorated with ornaments and fixed permanently in place.

Chair made from barbecue matches and three curved toothpick-tops. (fiddly work)

The shelves unit is made from popsicle sticks and a piece of Balza wood.

For the table, I glued a wooden disc on top of a Domino pizza protector.

The chair seat is woven with crochet yarn.

Happy New Year to all my Jewish friends and Happy Autumn to all my dear readers!

A loft bed for Kitty

Hello dear readers

After many trials and errors, the loft bed is completed.  To make it stay up, I had to build a sturdy shelves unit and ladder.  This involved a long job of hand sawing and sanding which I absolutely don't love.

There is now very little space for furniture but luckily Kitty doesn't need a kitchen, she has Baalatova to provide her and Solly with food.  There will also be a little garden where she can play and roam around.

This was one of the trials, unsuccessful attempts to install the loft bed.

Here is my last and safe fixture of the loft bed.  It leaves very little space for the indoor decoration but will have to do.

Needs decorative rose-colored cushions.

What's left now is to create small cushions, a small chair, and a table as well as wall decorations and a pot of flowers.

Hopefully I"ll be able to finish all these items soon.  My fingers already ache to make the garden and have this project complete for Halloween.

I wish you all a pleasant weekend with blessings.

Kitty's home Interior and exterior

Hello dear readers,
I have just compleded the first part of making a home for Kitty, using the smaller of the two boxes. I want it to be in the same style as Solly's home. The wallpaper is a piece of leftover cotton fabric. I chose it because it will be good with green furniture. The floor is from cardstock, the roof tiles and stone exterior walls, are from egg carton. All built from very simple materials in my stash.
The two boxes side by side
Since the box is too small for an upper floor, I am considering making a bed on pillars with a ladder. I hope to be able to finish the box soon. I have plans for the connecting garden which I'm eager to implement.
I would like to introduce, dear friends, a special lady. Anni Schkolnik was born in Germany in 1919. She and her only daughter are Holocaust survivers. Anni, although she moves in a wheelchair, still paints and crafts. Her recent work "Granny's Stories in Beads" is now being displayed in our local Artists Gallery.

I wish all my readers a happy productive week with blesssings.

Solly's home 5

Hello dear readers, I hope those of you, who are on vacation, are enjoying yourself. My favorite vacations are short but several through out the year.
As you already noticed, I love using recycled materials for my minis. I finished the outdoor using egg-carton for the roof and walls. Kitty's home (My next project) will be separated from Solly's by a small garden.
To solve the problem of adding a faux window, I'm thinking of making two identical ones and glueing one outside and the other inside both facing the wall at the same point. The one inside will be covered by a curtain. {Lol, how I hate to saw more wood.) But even without a window Solly's house is ready to be inhabitate.
Baalatova came to inspect the house. Baalatova: Solly are you satisfied with your new home? Solly: Thank you I'm very happy with my new home. I love to fly up straight to bed, look at the big photo of my brother and sister. It helps me fall asleep and dream of them. Baalatova: Now it's already time to use my magic spell to make lazy Drora do Kitty's house.
I wish all my dear readers a wonderful weekend and blessings.

Home for Solly (Part 4)

Hello dear readers, I heard Solly softly murmuring to himself, "Why bother making me a fireplace? I'm a bear afterall, I have a thick fur that warms me in the winter, on the contrary, I love it when it's cold and I can sleep as much as I want to. This made me change my plans. Instead of a fireplace I made Solly a bookcase, Solly loves to read.
Solly's bed with his favorite pet toy. (toy made by Pilar, http://miniaturasenmimundo.blogspot.com/) \\The bed is made from poppsiclesticks, tongue depressors, and tiny wooden beads. It had to be very low to fit the limited height space. (Bed cover by Maria http://prettythingsireland.blogspot.com/.)
I made the table using wooden disk and a knob. On the finished table are a cup of tea with its teabag on a soucer with a biscuit a tiny teaspoon, and a jar filled with honey all made by Jodi(http://my-miniaturemadness.blogspot.com/) as well as the book mark inside the beautiful book made by Pilar.
Almost all the wonderfuly made books in this bookcase are made by Pilar. The book and the beautiful bronze statue are made by Rosa Maria (http://contrastes-rosamaria.blogspot.com/), and stand side by side on the top shelf.
There still is a lot of work awaiting me. More books on a wall shelf. A seat for Solly. Wall hanging pictures. flowers and plants. At least I'm very happy to display the beautiful gifts received from the top talented artists in Blogland. THANK YOU MY DEAR FRIENDS, PILLAR, MARIA, JODI, ROSA MARIA, BIRGIT!!!! SOLLY JOINS ME WITH HIS OWN THANKS.
I am sorry for still not able to make links the old way. Not enough time and patience to study the new Google changes. No wonder people get tired of posting. I wish you all a lovely rest of the week with blessings

Home for Solly (Part 3)

Hello dear readers All my plans for working on Solly's home were postponed. I had to tidy and clear my work surfaces, (Kitchen table, Dining table, even kitchen counter) to allow room for family celebration of my birthday and our Pentecost Holiday. Now the surfaces are tidy but the work is slower as it takes time to find the necessary items that were close at reach before. The floors are from cardboard. They need a coat or more of Mod Podge before being glued on.
Alas, this home is somewhat small for my dear Solly, but Solly is satisfied and prefers sitting on a cushion, Japanese style. I made a table and fireplace from bits and pieces. I'm not sure about their final color, Light green or beige. Any suggestion will be welcome.
Besides a huge quantity of chocolates, I received some very precious gifts. The first from Rosa Maria http://contrastes-rosamaria.blogspot.com/ A little parcel, beautifully packed with treasures. The photo cannot show exactly how exquisite this precious piece of lacework is. The threads are featherly light like spider webs and the tiny bobbins are a marvel. THANK YOU DEAR ROSA MARIA FOR THESE PRECIOUS GIFTS AND MOST OF ALL FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP.
From my two darling daughters I received this electrical organ. First I had to get used to playing on a narrow 5 octave instrument. My right and left hands collided on several points. After a few days of practice it's no longer a problem. I can play by ear any melody I know. My fingers are no longer as agile as they used to be when I was young and played classical music on my piano (sold 70 years ago and was the downpayment of our first home). Pop music is all I can play now.
I wish you all my dear readers, a pleasant weekend with blessings.

A home for Solly Part 2

Hello dear readers, Solly is a cheerful little winged bear, handcrafted by ny very talented friend Birgit, BiWuBaer.blogspot.com. (link didn't work) Solly is a gift which brings smiles everytime I look at him. the charming yound Solly has been with me over 4 years, didn't have a place of his own and never complained about it. I wanted him to have a cheerful sunny room and this is what it's going to look like. Couln't find wall paper so I experimented with decoupaging a papernapkin. How you like the result.
I cut strips of 1/4" wooden beads to frame the ugly openning of the box and enlarge the depth a tiny bit. Exceps for the indoors and bottom part, I didn't glue them yet on the frame. Will do so after inserting the floors and fireplace.
Doesn't look like a big progress but believe me it was hard work. Cutting and sawing wood to exact size by hand is not my cup of tea. The wall papering was fun. Even Baalatova liked the result. I wish you all delightful sunny days with blessings.

The third scene on a

Hello dear readers, I had to complete the third and last of the three scenes on a slice of tree branch before starting with the project of Solly's home. One thing led to another, you'll see what I mean with the next photos and I found myself even more busy, this time with miniatures. This is the new scene. Trees made out of grapes stems and foam, houses out of ceramic clay, fired in a kiln and than painted. Lake and duck out of my homemade cold porcelain.
First I made a bunch of clay houses intended for this scene (as well as for filling walnuts shells). Then I cooked, the cold porcelain clay, but I didn't calculate the quantity needed for the lake and ducks. This clay has to be used within a limit of time before it dries out, so I made a larger duck to be filled with tiny flowers. And then I made more ducks and, please don't laugh, I began to think that this clay will never end so I gave what was left to some ladies at the center to play with. I made paper flowers to fill some of the empty duck flower to be given as little "thank you" gifts. Now you know what kept me away from Solly's home.
This little fellow is small enough to be displayed in a nutshell. The next photo shows what was used to fill it.
Now I have time at leisure to go and enjoy visiting my favorite blogs with a hope that my comments will be visable. I wish you, my dear readers, a lovely weekend with blessings. I

A Home for Solly

Helo dear readers This is my first post of this month. I found out lately that time devided on many different jobs runs out much quicker than it should. I was looking for new materials at the craft corner of Max Stock, one of the largest department stores in my town that sells small accessories for the home. I found among other things, this set of two wooden boxes. The larger box can make a nice home for little solly who has been hinting about having a place of his own. There are some pieces of furniture that will fit in, including a bed.
I also am making tiny clay houses which I need for my walnuts shells and other projects. the photos show them here before and after sanding. Later on they will be sent to be fired in Nilly's kiln.
It is funny how minis keep invading my fridge's door.
First photo - a gift from my daughter Galia. Second photo - gifts from family and a friend.
I wish you beautiful days of sunshine same as we enjoy here now. Blessings to all my readers and friends!
