About my sea shells decoration - this was a kind of decoupage work. At a friend's dinner we were served beautiful paper napkins with tiny rose motives. I asked our hostess if I can take one home, much to the surprise and brow lifting of the other couples present. People who don't know me, think I'm a little out of my mind. It is not easy to find paper napkins with small motives. This one was a find and I was very grateful to be given several.
From a 3-layered paper napkin, lift up the top very thin layer. Cut out small roses or leaves or any other motive. Spread a thin layer of PVC glue on the inner face of the shell and stick the cut-out on it. Very gently rub it in, careful not to tear it. When it's dry brush on nail polish. Very easy. All that's left to do is paint gold borders. I suppose there is a special decoupage glue but this method was good enough for such a tiny space.
Nature very generously provided some perforated shells. I used these to make wall hangings.
As always I got carried away and made more boxes. Romantic ones.
Three layered napkin.
Top layer only.
Tiny piece cut out.
This is how it looks before nail polish and gold border. It is really very quick and easy. Doing it was fun.
Blessings to all my friends!

Drora, shells were very beautiful. I have the same problem - no tissues and napkins with small drawings:)
ReplyDeleteI have got the same napkins at home and I used them to my dollhouse miniatures as well. They're great, and roses are very small. You're right, it's hard to find a napkin with so small print on. Good job Drora, your miniatures looks amazing, as always xxx
