Springtime giveaway

Hello dear readers,

Happy 1st of May!

I created lots and lots of plants and flowers for the shop. Now it's about time for a new giveaway and what's better than some flowers in springtime?

Not very good photos but it's too hot to take them outside.

Still working on the back wall of the shop.  A boring and time-consuming and very messy job.  What makes it easier to bear is listening to some favorite classical music while curving.

My friends, Goldie and Sarit, both very talented miniaturists, came over for a short visit.  We took advantage of the little time we had together and set down to make Carmen's pressure cooker.
It took longer to make the box than the cooker itself.  The three of us are very pleased with the results and send Carmen a BIG THANK YOU!

A few steps forward with the flower shop

Hello dear readers,

First of all, my heartiest thanks for your congratulations.  It was an upgraded award, from 100 top to 40 top.

Slowly but surely the florist shop is stepping forward.  In the middle of work, I found that I didn't have enough styrofoam material.  It was out of stock at the shop where I bought it.  On top of these bad news, the shopkeeper said he no longer does business with his styrofoam boards supplier.

At last, after a few weeks of frustration, I found a new shop and bought one large board which will enable me to finish the shop and a few other projects on the way.  Meanwhile, I'll let you have a look at what is ready.

Floor, flowers bouquet preparation table, some crates with a stock of flowers.

Chair completed.

Two outside wall curved.  Will be painted later.

A new shelves stand.  The one I made before is good for books rather than for flowers. It will be painted same as the table and chair.

For demonstration only.

As you can see, there is still a lot of work to do.

I'm very excited to let you know that today I've been informed by https://blog.feedspot.com that my blog has been awarded "top 40 dollhouse blog".  I've seen the list and feel honored as well as humbled to be included with the best.

I willingly gave up my carpeting.  Instead, I'll become a "stonemason".  Making paper flowers and cutting styrofoam stones are super time-consuming jobs.  I hope the results will justify my slow progress.

Pessah has been a long holiday which will end on next Saturday.  With young children on vacation, family and daily visits to my husband in his nursing home, it is almost impossible to work. However, I managed to make a pot of sunflowers, paint the furniture pieces and assemble the chair.  Only left to weave the chair's seat.

Also made a "stone wall"  from a small piece of styrofoam.  This wall is not intended for the flower shop.  It will be part of a barbeque scene in which both Alexandra's and Carmen's giveaway gifts will be displayed. I just needed to practice the work.

Furniture for the florist

Family circumstances kept me away from working on miniatures.  I tried, however, not to miss visiting your blogs to see what wonderful new things you are creating.

I am now busy being a "Full-time mini carpenter".  My right-arm muscles hurt a little after spending a while with the saw but I'm satisfied with the results, especially as every little piece is made from scratch and there was no need to search for materials.

After receiving great advice from many of you, I decided to give up my favorite blue color.  I have not yet decided if it would be plain white or shabby white.  But here, just for demonstrations, are pieces of furniture before painting.

Shelves unit.  I used tongue depressors for the shelves, a child's room wooden plate for the back, and four large craft sticks for the sides, top and bottom.

From 1/4" wood dowels, I made legs and skirting for the table. I still have to make the Fawcett unit.

It was necessary to make a new chair because it is impossible to paint over the blue chair.  This has to be done before starting weaving the seat.

Made a few more crates.  The crates indoor will be white.  The crates outdoor will be weathered wood color, just as Betsy suggested.

It feels as if there is some progress.

Inspirations for the florist

Hello dear readers,

First of all, I am lucky and happy to let you know that Alexandra's giveaway prize has arrived whole and safe.  I already have plans for a barbeque scene with these wonderful items.  The vegetables in the bowl, as well as the meat pieces, are fantastical life-size looking.

A SINK TABLE TOP

Sometimes I have to improvise for materials.  I don't know how many of you, dear readers, remember the little cottage I made from a cheap wooden cash-box. (Photo below.)

Here is one of those cash-boxes.  They cost about  US$0.60 which is quite cheap for the wood I get after taking them apart in the microwave oven.

You will agree with me that a florist needs a sink table for flower arrangements.  My inspiration comes from the very creative Jodi who creates beautiful sink units.  The bottom of the box makes a perfect table top for a sink unit, saving me a lot of work. The ceramic bowl is made by my daughter Nilly.
(I have to search my stash for more of these bowls.)

CRATES

This beautiful miniature florist shop (From Pinterest) inspired me to make a few wooden crates for my project. They will be great for displaying the plant pots.

The crates are a flexible way for displaying the flowers pots and accessories.  I have not yet decided which color to paint them.  All suggestions are welcome.

Roses

Hello dear readers,

You will probably agree with me that no flower shop can be complete without roses.  Here are roses I made using a regular office paper hole punch, a star punch, and colored papers.  When they are finished, I spray them with a transparent lacquer to protect their color.

Made some "Fresh cut roses"

Made a chair for the flower shop.  This will be the color of the furniture pieces. 

Made rose orchids.

Spring is on my work table.  These colors put me in a good mood.

I'll give flower making a break and start working on the furniture, leaving the shop for last.
Have to make some changes in the structure.

Orchids

Hello dear readers,

Valentine Day is almost here with romance in the air.  The flower shops are getting ready for business time, expecting volumes of orders.

My shop isn't ready yet.  I keep stocking up.  This time I made orchids and as usual, I got carried away and spent a whole week making them as well as the pots.  (Egg carton pots, as you probably guessed.)

This lot is already donated to charity.  I'll have to craft some more if I want them for the shop.

Paper orchids are not very difficult to make.  These are done with only two punches which I have at hand, a 1/8" hole punch and a 1/16" flower punch.  I hope they look fairly similar to the real flowers.

Keep away from the flue my friends!
