Kitty's home Interior and exterior

Hello dear readers,
I have just compleded the first part of making a home for Kitty, using the smaller of the two boxes. I want it to be in the same style as Solly's home. The wallpaper is a piece of leftover cotton fabric. I chose it because it will be good with green furniture. The floor is from cardstock, the roof tiles and stone exterior walls, are from egg carton. All built from very simple materials in my stash.
The two boxes side by side
Since the box is too small for an upper floor, I am considering making a bed on pillars with a ladder. I hope to be able to finish the box soon. I have plans for the connecting garden which I'm eager to implement.
I would like to introduce, dear friends, a special lady. Anni Schkolnik was born in Germany in 1919. She and her only daughter are Holocaust survivers. Anni, although she moves in a wheelchair, still paints and crafts. Her recent work "Granny's Stories in Beads" is now being displayed in our local Artists Gallery.
An illustration by Anni
I wish all my readers a happy productive week with blesssings.

  3. Kitty's house will be just perfect for her, Drora! I am a big fan of pink and green together, and I already love the fabric, so I am very excited to see it come together! The idea for the loft bed is brilliant! You have definitely turned "stash" to "treasure" with the finishes for her cottage, and I can see on Kitty's face that she is overjoyed! I can't wait to see the adjoining garden, too! I know it will be an inspiration!

Anni's artwork is so creative! I love the sky filled angels! It reminds the viewer that no matter what you are enduring, you are never alone. The scale made of beads is just so clever, and her illustration, wonderful! It looks like a stylized photograph! So talented! What a treasure it is to have her work on display, and so precious, too, as the survivors are slipping away from us. Fortunately, Granny's Stories through beads, as well as other stories of survival and triumph, will live on!

  6. I should have put my sunglasses on when watching the photo of Kitty standing in front of her house in progress... *smile* But no surprise she's beaming with joy as her house is very pretty and perfect for a little girl. Your solution for her bed sounds great and I can't wait to see the garden the two cuties share.

Thanks for introducing us to Anni and her amazing work. It's stunning what she does and even more regarding her age.

    Hugs

  10. These are cute stylized boxes. The fabric with a small pattern is suitable for wallpaper. I like the picture with the sky and cotton clouds. Hello to these ladies-heroes!
