500 followers!!! Giveaway

Last month with Christmas and Hanukka, swaps and giveaways, was one of  my most exciting months.

I received wonderful gifts from talented and generous online friends, won a great giveaway and sent giveaways of my own to two winners.  With all the excitement, frequent trips to the post office, and
working on my minis, I scarcely noticed that the number of my followers was increasing.

At the beginning of this month, I realized that soon I'll be celebrating having 500 followers and  have to do a new giveaway. I feel so blessed and grateful. Never dreamed that my humble blog will attract so many readers. Just imagining that everytime I post  it reaches 500 online friends, is beyond me.

Leaving aside all my pending projects, I started, with much pleasure and fun, making the 1:48" cottage, waiting to see your reactions., which were many and very kind and encouraging. This cottage is my giveaway, expressing my gratitude to you all.  The exterior can be displayed as it is and the interior will be left to the winner to do.  The first floor can be a kitchen/sitting room, the second a bedroom or whatever crosses the winner's mind.

1:48" furniture pieces are very easy to make.  I have already done so before. Here are some examples from my dollhouse in a teabox.  I used popsicle sticks, tongue depressors and toothpicks too make these pieces.

The table, chairs and clock are plastic, a present from a friend. The sideboard made of wood scraps.

Cottage 1/48" progress

The exterior is almost finished.  Here are a few photos.

I still have to work on the door and maybe a tiny birdhouse but most of the exterior work is done.

Now I'll take on the interior, floors, furniture, etc.  It's really fun working on this scale.

I take my hat off to Willard Wigan a micro sculptor who creates sculptures that fit in the eye of a needle.

Today was a beautiful sunny day here.  We had a wonderful time with friends in Tel-Aviv.  I bought some stuff intending to make miniatures from it.  Will show you soon.

Today the windows and flower boxes are installed.


It begins to look like a cottage.

The false windows have still to be treated.

I'm thinking more green plants around .

1:48" cottage - continued

Very slow progress.  It was a hectic week. Bad stormy, cold and rainy weather.  Stayed inside most of the time, entertaining family and guests.  Today I worked, making doors and windows, as well as some stairs
for the entrance.

Also managed to wallpaper the interior.

Needs floors. I just put the pieces of furniture in for demonstation.

Tomorrow I shall finish the interior (Hopefully).

Here are some photos from the snow which fell yesterday in Jerusalem.  This happens only once in
a few years.

New Project - 1:48" Cottage

Yes, I know - there are still pending projects to be completed, but I couldn't resist making a little cottage for a few plastic 1:48" furniture pieces I have at hand. This will be my first 2013 work.

It's funny, when I first started this hobby one of the advantages was that minis don't require much space.
Now they take up too much space, so I went on to half scales and now to a quarter scale......next we shall have to move out and let the minis stay.

The kitchen table is 1:12" .

Here the fun begins.  I intend to make it a two stories cottage.  I'll keep posting about my progress.

Meanwhile here are some photos of gorgeous glass art by a master glass artist, Robert Mickelsen.  I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I did.
