Surprise Gifts from Julia

Imagine how delighted I was to receive these simply exquisite miniatures from Julia, http://elminimundodeyuli.blogspot.com/, all hand made by Julia for me.  I am as happy as a child with candies with my new gifts and never cease to wonder how lucky I am to have  good friends who spoil me with gorgeos gifts.  I do hope my photos do them justice.

Even the little card box with Julias logo is beautiful!

Delicious cookies and more of them inside the jar with its beautiful cover.

THANK YOU JULIA!!!! Your gifts are little treasures.  The Christmas tree is a very welcome item to be used next year.  I love the cookies and the little jar, the beautiful romantic tray, the candle holder with its candle, and most of all, I love the precious silk cushion.

A warm welcome to new followers

Seashell Art

You probably have guessed by now how fond I am of seashells.   We were visiting friends, where I saw and took photos to share with you, of some cute seashell art.  These were produced at an old age home by elderly people.

The guitar is also cut from shells.

Isn't is inspiring? I wish I could create something equal.  I love them all.

Blessings to all

More Sea Shells decoration - How to

About my sea shells decoration - this was a kind of decoupage work.  At a friend's dinner  we were served beautiful paper napkins with tiny rose motives.  I  asked our hostess if I can take one home, much to the surprise and brow lifting of the other couples present.  People who don't know me, think I'm a little out of my mind.  It is not easy to find paper napkins with small motives. This one was a find and I was very grateful to be given several.

From a 3-layered paper napkin, lift up the top very thin layer.  Cut out small roses or leaves or any other motive.  Spread a thin layer of PVC glue on the inner face of the shell and stick the cut-out on it.  Very gently rub it in, careful not to tear it.  When it's dry brush on nail polish.  Very easy.  All that's left to do is paint gold borders. I suppose there is a special decoupage glue but this method was good enough for such a tiny space.

Nature very generously provided some perforated shells.  I used these to make wall hangings.

As always I got carried away and made more boxes. Romantic ones.

 Three layered napkin.
Top layer only.
Tiny piece cut out.

This is how it looks before nail polish and gold border.  It is really very quick and easy.  Doing it was fun.

Blessings to all my friends!

Decorating shells

I saw a beautifully decorated, 1:1 size, pilgim's shell made by Chelo - http://elrincondechelo.blogspot.com/ and loved it.
With Chelo's kind permission, I began experimenting with mini shells.  Mine are not even close to Chelo's beautiful one but I'll keep experimenting., to get better results.

Thank you Mely, Fabiola and Sans for your advice.  I am now using Google Chrome and able to make comments.   I get translations, as a bonus.  Before I only understood the Spanish and English blogs and had to guess from pictures what went on.

Here is a very warm welcome to new followers, I am happy to greet you and where possible follow back.

Birdhouses

Years ago I bought, in one of the artesans fairs in Peru, three clay handmade birdhouses mobiles.  For some unknown reason, I kept them.  They are really very cute and I noticed they are also dollhouse size.

I'll probably give them away with some of my swaps, if anyone is interested.

I find I cannot leave comments in several blogs and can't figure out why.  I hope this problem will soon solve itself.   I click comments and get a blank page. BLOGGER HELP!!

And here is a big warm welcome to new followers

New Year's first work - Plants

It's been a very rainy, dark and cold day here.  The rains, of course, are very welcome, but I hate it when it's cold outside.  I sat down to make some plants and meditated about spring and gardens.  I had fun working and dreaming.

A few hours' work results.   The leaves are  printables  found on the net, donated by very generous people, for pesonal use only.  I painted upsidedown metal bells and used them as planters for some of the plants. As usual, I got carried away and made a few more pots for future gifts.

Next I'll be trying  to make flowers and hum Spring is in the Air.

I do not know if any of you encountered a problem of receiving in your email comments meant for other blogs.  If you know how to solve this problem please let me know.
